Day 1 - Love one another as the Lord loves you

Bible talk about God’s love for us and gives us the commandment to love another. Jesus demonstrated love in His own life. He has shown us a greater love.

Great confidence that a believer should have is that God loves him or her. John 15:9 says that as the Father has loved Jesus, Jesus loves us and He wants us to abide in His love. John 17:23 says that as the Father loves Jesus, Father loves us also. But how do we abide in His love? Jesus says, by following His commandment of loving each other as He has loved us.

How does the world know that we are disciples? By seeing our love for one another - John 13:34-35 - A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

His commandment to love one another and He showcased that love on the cross - John 15:12-14 – This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Even when we were sinners, He loved us - Romans 5:8 – But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Follow God by walking in love - Ephesians 5:1,2 - Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.

Put on love which is bond of perfectness - Colossians 3:12-14 - Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity [love], which is the bond of perfectness.

Love leads to unity and peace - Ephesians 4:1-3 - I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

We have purified our souls to sincere, unhypocritical love of the brethren - 1 Peter 1:22-23 - Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Religious activity does not matter but in Christ, the expression of faith through love does matter - Galatians 5:6 - For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
